The album, Maret's first as co-leader, marks the opportunity for Maret to establish the shape of his own sound, after years of working as a much-sought-after sideman for such notable talents as Cassandra Wilson, George Benson, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Bebel Gilberto and the Pat Metheny Group. For Milne, the project offered a chance to explore his own compositions in a fresh context. For both artists, the album thrust the two friends into a journey of mutual self-discovery and boundary stretching. The result: Scenarios, a bewitching and evocative album of piano/harmonica duets, with each song suggesting cinematic visions and intriguing images with every note.
