Aria is defined by its spacious aural atmosphere. At its core, Aria is a collection of cultural reflections that surround guitarist Bebo Ferra and double-bass player Paolino dalla Porta. Drawing inspiration from such varied sources as French impressionist painter Henri Matisse (“Matisse’s Dance”) and poet Charles Baudelaire (“Spleen”), Aria is compelling for its fluid beauty.
The spontaneous exchange of sound on Aria might lead one to think that many of the pieces were improvised. However, each piece was composed with thorough detail. It is only through years of solid collaboration that a duo can reach Paolino dalla Porta and Bebo Ferra’s level of musical communication. Aria is the convergence of two souls, exquisitely attuned.
“This is a great example of the art of the musical duet.” – Ralph Towner
